Living the Single Life

Well, it's happened... Hubby has left for his train show. One of the guys in the club came down and picked up the table and half the Lego room, and hubby went with him. He'll be home on Monday..

I thought I'd start off my few days of singledom by having some fun (HA), which is how I found myself in the supermarket buying groceries... I'm still trying to work it out too.....

I'm heading up to Toowoomba with a friend of mine on Saturday for our college reunion.. It's being held, in true college fashion, at the pub.. I'm really looking forward to catching up with the people I went to college with, some of them I haven't seen since I left!!!

Then Monday I am heding up to Brisbane to see Hubby and the train show.. Should be good, they always put on a good show, and the whole production seems to get bigger every year! This year the boys had to build a special rack on the trailer so they can fit all the tables and boxes of Lego in!!!

Windows to the soul

I must be getting desperate for something to do... No really.... Today I decided to wash every window in the house... I did the outside ones and hubby did the inside ones... I can now see through them, it's great....

Then, I thought it would be a great plan to dust things that probably havn't been dusted since we moved in... Ugh... Looks much better now!

It's all because of these public holidays... They give you a day off work, then refuse to open any shops.. I would have loved a trip to Bunnings!!! I could have finished the garden off...

This afternoon the brigade is marching in the ANZAC day parade in town, then we're heading down to the local watering hole for an ale or three......

Also... Happy Birthday JW

Table Tales....

Hubby is still putting the finishing touches on his train table and it's looking really good.. My task for tomorrow is to make some cars to put on the roads and help him with some other bits and pieces..

It all gets taken apart on Wednesday night and is heading off to Brisbane on Thursday evening for it's debut at the Brisbane Minature Train Show this weekend..

I'll post some pics of the whole thing after the show..

The Laundry Monster

I hate doing washing and ironing.. I try to do a load every couple of days so my whole weekend isn't bogged down with washing..

Anyway, Sunday is change the sheets day in our place, so this morning I went to get the sheets off the bed and this picture shows what I found... Thinking that Hubby must have stripped the bed for me, I went to grab the pile off the bed..

Now I have heard of grandmothers that starch things so much that could walk by themselves, but I naver starch my sheets, so imagine my suprise (and language) when the pile grabbed me and pinned me to the bed..

Further investigation showed that the laundry monster was in fact Hubby playing silly buggers with Oscar....

Sammy Makes His Debut

Well.. You know how I told you we were going up to look at a kitten for Lou?? Well, yesterday Mum, Lou and I drove up to see what Georgine (the breeder) had in the way of Tonkinese kittens.. There was one girl and one boy.. The little boy took an instant liking to Lou, jumping into her lap and promptly curling into a fuzzy, sleepy little ball..

We brought him home with us...

Lou has been thinking of a name for 24 hours now, and the cat had been called a few things in the interim.. Piss Off, Bugger Off, Little Shit, Little Buddy, Pending, and Dave..

The name has been chosen... Say hello to little Sammy!!!

Weekend Warrior

Well.. I finally got off my butt and did some work in the garden.. Hubby is still working on his train table so it was a choice between helping him or doing some gardening... Gardening is looking real good...

Anyway, I let the kids out and spent about two hours pulling out weeds (at least I think they were weeds), re-potting some of my indoor plants and generally tidying up our garden.. I think it looks more like a bombsite than it did before...

I'm hoping to make a solo trip to Bunnings and some nurseries sometime soon so I can get something cheap and plant-like to fill in the gaps..

To Bee or Not to Bee

We let the 'kids' out yesterday morning for some backyard rambling.. Things were going really well until they were both stung by bees within about 10 seconds of each other... Just as we told Bella to "watch out, those flies you're chasing are actually bees." she was stung.. The next 5 minutes were spent with her trying to run as far from those stingee things as possible and lick her sore foot at the same time.. It was quite entertaining actually... After half an hour or so she was fine....

Oscar copped a sting in the face and his eye swelled up.. It looked like he'd gone a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson... Anyway, he too is fine today and it didn't stop them chasing the bees again today....

Mower Madness

We've been living in our house for 18 months now and we are still borrowing the in-law's mower every few weeks..

I think it's time to get ourselves a mower of our own.. Am going to check out Bunnings and a couple of mower shops to see what I can find out about them..

Anyone have a good second hand mower they want to sell??

Nothing like a good cuppa...

I went to see Julie at Salon Darme in Robina to get my hair done last night, while I was waiting for the colour to "cook", her husband brought me out a cup of tea and a yummy little caramel slice...

I don't know whether it was the hair dye fumes or what, but it was the best cup of tea I think I have ever had... And that little caramel slice?? Well, lets just say they'll be putting a lock on their fridge for my future visits.....

Aside from eating them out of house and home, my hair looks great! I much prefer it short, and the cut and colour Julie has done looks fantastic! (Well, I think so anyway)

Cats 1 Cockroaches Nil

Ugh... I hate roaches.... We have had a few in recent weeks.. I think it's time we called out the pest man again.. I was just walking through the kitchen when I noticed both our cats huddled around something obviously very interesting.. Thinking there was a major catnip deal about to go down I thought I should intervene...

They'd 'caught' a cockroach.... When I say caught, I mean thrown it around and played with it until it ended up disorientated and on it's back.. The poor bloody thing was too terrified to move.. Hubby tried to catch it, but it made a break for freedom under the fridge.. Now the cats are trying to squeeze under the fridge..

I think I'll go get some spray and kill it the girly way.. Spray it until it turns white...

The love plant is dying...

When Hubby and I moved into our house, a friend of ours gave us a Madonna Lily as a housewarming gift. We christened it "the love plant' (yeah, I have no idea why either).. I was outside this-evening and thought I should probably water the garden, I noticed that the love plant is looking a little worse for wear... I have to admit I can't remember the last time I watered it, and hubby is hopeless with gardening (except if it's to dig the holes for the plants to go in)..

I brought the poor thing inside and am soaking it in a sinkful of Fish & Kelp fertiliser water.... Wonder if I'll kill it with kindness now???

Lego Trains Planes and Automobiles

Hubby is into Lego in a big way.. Another reason I don't want to use his computer all the time (see post below), it's in the Lego room.. Oh yeah, there's a whole room full of it!! And half the garage at the moment! The Train table is in the garage.. Lucky I ride a motor scooter as there is no room for two cars...

Hubby is busily 'building' and arranging his train table for the upcoming model train show in Brisbane over the May long weekend. he was looking for some inspiration and asked for my opinion (I'm still not sure how I helped).. Anyway, the outcome was a 'country club' with tennis courts and a bowling green, and a bike/scooter dealership.. It's really starting to come together, and looks even better once he has all the lights and trains etc. going..

And you thought Lego was for kids.....

Super Computer My Bottom...

In October last year Hubby and I bought some new toys... OK.. OK.. Get your mind out of the gutter, the toys I am referring to are, in my case, a laptop computer, and in his case, a digital camera that I am still struggling to learn how to use.. Stupid technology..
Anyway, to cut a long story short. The charging cable for the laptop died this week. Well, at least I think it was this week as that's when the batteries went flat... So, I have no computer to play with, I am in MSN messenger withdrawl, and I have to use Aaron's computer to post to the blog, and to e-mail anyone..
Clive Anthonys have been great, I took the computer in there and they rang HP for me.. HP is sending me another charger, which should be here in about a week..

Just in time to reconcile the fire brigade books... YAY.....

Pussies, Cats and Kittens.. Oh My!!

Well, Lou has fallen in love with little Oscar, our adorable and naughty Tonkinese kitten. She has decided to get one for herself, so we're going up to see the lady who bred Oscar (and Bella) on Saturday so Lou can meet the babies available for sale and see if any take to her.. This lady breeds high quality kittens, and brings them up in the house. She loves each and every one of them so much and is very particular about who she sells her babies to..

I reckon the best way to choose a pet is to let it choose you!

I hope I don't fall in love with any of them.. I'm not allowed another kitten, we have enough trouble keeping track of the two we already have!!!

I am original... Really...

Well.. I've bowed to public pressure and have started a blog.. Actually, there was no public pressure....

According to Steve there are a whole heap of people with blogs, something like 35 million... I want to be one of the crowd!!

Anyway, Last night I went to the Australian Outback Spectacular with some friends.. Geez it was good!! For a show aimed at tourists, I thought it was great!!! Three of the people in our group of seven were 'volunteered' for a beer can boat race.. Which basically involved them running from one end of the arena to the other while holding up a 'boat' made from beer cans.. It was all very technical, and I'm proud to say we won the race... Plus, we only cheated a little bit!! The food was pretty darn good, and the fact that they kept topping up the wine glasses instead of leaving the bottle, meant that I have no idea how much wine was consumed... Probably around 3 glasses... Couldn't go overboard, it was a school night!!

Will post more tonight when I think of something to tell you...
