You've GOT to be Joking... Right??

Last night Hubby and I arrived home within 30 seconds of each other.. To find that the garage door was 3/4 open... Hubby got his torch off his fire helmet and walked around the garage CSI style.. What he was hoping to find with a tiny torch beam I'll never know...

I had my gloves on still from my ride home on the scooter, so I just shook my head at him and laughed as I walked through the house ahead of him and turned on all the lights..

Here's where it gets weird.

* Cats were still inside.
* Nothing was missing (that we could tell).
* Nothing was disturbed.
* My laptop was sitting in plain view and was still there.

OK, so you're probably thinking exactly what Hubby did.. "Are you SURE you closed the door on your way out this morning Megs?"

Yep. I am certain.. I remember checking it and would swear on a stack of bibles.

We went over and met the neighbours (funny how you meet people at times like this), and she says she didn't notice anything unusual, and that she was broken into a couple of weeks ago..

I don't think they ever came in the house, they were probably disturbed and ran away.. If they did come in the house, maybe they had a wander around, and decided we didn't have anything worth taking, or Oscar attacked and ate them (that cat would eat anything). I don't think robbers would be very concerned with making sure our cats didn't get out, and as I said, the kids were still there waiting for us.

We decided to report it to the police anyway, just in case we notice something gone later on, or they come back.. I rang the police station at around 6:30 pm Thursday night..

The police showed up around 8:30.. I should mention that it was 8:30 FRIDAY MORNING...

Anyway.. This whole incident will remain one of the many mysteries of life.....

It's been an interesting weekend...

Well, as I mentioned last time, Hubby was in Sydney this weekend for the emergency services expo.. So I held up the fort here at home..

I went to a friends 21st on Friday night and it was great.. Awesome night.. Then last night I went to an engagement party for another couple of friends.. It would have been a better night if I hadn't been feeling so crappy..

I have had a sore throat and been feeling generally off colour for about a week now and it turns out I have tonsillitis. That wouldn't be so bad, if I didn't have some kind of cold happening too.. Anyway, the antibiotics are starting to kick in and as usual, they make you feel worse before they make you feel better.. Just waiting for the feeling better part to happen..

Anyway, Hubby is flying back in tonight and I am heading down to pick him up shortly. It'll be good to have him home...

Love Plant Update....

OK, a few weeks ago I told you about the Madonna Lilly we christened the "love plant" and how it was looking a bit dead.. Well, after three weeks of tender loving care (and me stopping the cats from eating it), the Love Plant is now looking like a million bucks!!

It's got some new shoots, it's actually green and not brown, and I think it might even grow some more!!

And here I was thinking that my green thumb had dropped off....

Gearing up again for single life!!

So, what's new?? Hubby going away again this weekend to an emergency services expo in Sydney. This, of course, means I am single for the weekend.. What better way to spend the weekend than going to a friends 21st party on Friday night, doing some volunteer work on Saturday, going to an engagement party on Saturday night, and to the garden/home show on Sunday!! Then Hubby comes home on Sunday night and things go back to normal.

Hubby is over his fluey thingee (I think) so I can venture near him again without risk of being infected, and the sore throat etc. from Saturday didn't come to anything.. Although speaking of infected, another friend of mine has accute tonsilitis.. Everyone is getting sick!!!

Good thing I'm all healthy and stuff.. :-)

All happening...

Poor Hubby is in bed with some kind of illness.. I'm not sure exactly what it is because I didn't want to get near him.. Despit my efforts to stay away, this morning I awoke with a sore throat , sniffly nose and a headache.. No big deal I hear you say, but apparently this is exactly how hubby started....

Not happy....

Anyway, no time to be sick, there is washing and cleaning to do!!

Accounts Schmacounts

Usually I am up to date and on top of the fire brigade accounts. I learned that lesson the hard way, when the first time I did a rencilliation, I sat up in front of the computer doing a months worth of work in one night.. Oh yeah, I had the worlds greatest eye bags the next day...

Anyway, this month I have been a bit lax, and thought I had a couple of weeks to catch up on.. As usual, I am leaving it until the last possible minute so as to ensure my stress levels don't get too low... I'd hate to be relaxed about it or anything.. Have just pulled out the bank statements.. Suppose I should get onto it..

CYA

How does your garden grow??

Not very well actually....

I did get my trip to Bunnings, supervised of course, so I didn't go too crazy. We got a couple of bags of mulch and a palm for the corner of the garden I hacked that black tree out of (well, it was supposed to be a tree, it looked like a bunch of black sticks).. Now don't go getting too excited, I didn't actually plant anything, or mulch anything.. I didn't do anything really.. Instead, Hubby and I went to the beach...

Now don't fall off your chair, I know I'm not a beachy kind of person, but I had a ball!! Hubby snorkeled, and I sat in my little beach chair and read my book.. What a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

I suppose I'll have to do some gardening this weekend....

YAY for Bunnings...

I am hoping to convince Hubby to let me go to Bunnings tomorrow to get some plants to finish the garden off... Sounds easy right?? Not when I am trying to convince him to let me go UNSUPERVISED...... Yep, he has a rule that says I am not allowed to go to Bunnings without a responsible adult present because I go nuts and buy everything, and that doesn't include my mother because she loves Bunnings as much as I do.. It's kinda like banning my Aunt from Ikea (not gonna happen)..

It's ok though... I got my own back by not letting him in a toyshop without adequate supervision..

Will let you know how my garden plan goes.....

Bikes and Bimbos do not mix....

As you may know, I ride a motor scooter to work most days, and it's usually great!! It's a cheap way to get around, and it's a lot of fun...

Last night I had a meeting at the fire shed before training, so I rode the scooter instead of making hubby come with me in the car and hang around for an hour waiting for training to start.. The riding the scooter to the shed was fine, it was the trying to go home part where it all went pearshaped.....

Hubby took off in the car and I rugged up and got onto the scooter.. Yeah, you guessed it, it wouldn't start.. I tried the electric start.. Nothing.. I tried the kickstarting.. Nothing.. I got some help from one of the bikie chicks in the brigade... Nothing.. I got a lift home with Lou and swore most of the way..

Let me add at this point that the bike has only done 385 kilometres so it's virtually brand new, and it hasn't even had it's first service yet, so my swearing at the yellow pile of junk was justified (well, in my mind anyway)..

This morning I went out again to the shed to see if I could get it started... Nothing... I swore some more and rang the dealer I bought it from.. He listened to my issues (angry tirade), then the conversation went something like this...

Him - Can I ask a stupid question?
Me - Sure.
Him - Have you checked the kill switch?
Me - Ahhh.. Yeah... About that.....
Him - Heh heh.. Bet you feel a bit silly huh?
Me - Not really... Actually.. I feel like a real idiot..

Yep... It started first time..... Seems that when one of the boys was playing silly buggers and pretending to ride it last night, he accidently knocked the kill switch.. I never use said kill switch, so I didn't even think to check it, probably because Ihad forgotten I had one...

The Show...

Well, hubby is home from his trip to Brissy for the train show..

Monday I went up to see the layout and have a look around. All I can say is WOW!!!!! It was amazing.. Those boys have really outdone themselves...

The table measured 13.5 metres long by 2 metres wide and the detail and time that obviously went into it was amazing!!!

Here are a couple more pics...

What a weekend!!!!!!!!!

What an awesome weekend...

I headed up to toowoomba on Saturday morning with Cath for our college reunion.. There were so many people there that I knew, but only a few that remembered me because I was only there for 8 months.. That and I never left my room because I was always studying (HA)..

Anyway, the night went pretty late and I crawed into my swag at around 2ish.. Then Cath and I were up at sparrows to get back to Brissy for a Christening at 8am...

Anyway, by about midday on Sunday, I was ready for a nana nap!!!

More on Sunday and Monday's activities soon...
